Get involved

Teach, mentor, and help build a specialty.

Everyone joins as a member, and membership is free. For specialists who want to extend their involvement, there are paid teaching opportunities in the training programme being built in India. They are remote, on site or hybrid, with flexible hours, and you decide how much you take on.

What involvement looks like

Four positions

Each is paid. Each can be held alongside your own practice. A current programme director speaks with every applicant.

01

Programme Director

You lead or co-lead a programme, set the standard it trains to, and anchor a training site or pathway.

For

Established specialists who already lead or run training.

Where

Remote, with periods on site.

02

Clinical Instructor

You teach and supervise on the hospital floor, share the teaching load, and mentor a small group of trainees.

For

CertAVP holders, RCVS-recognised practitioners, or the equivalent.

Where

On site, matched to a training site and specialty.

03

Faculty

You deliver all or part of the didactic training, and may also take part in practical teaching.

For

Specialists who want to teach without being on site.

Where

Mostly remote and online.

04

Board Member

You help establish boards and training posts, and shape how the society is governed.

For

Those who have built residency programmes or academic pathways before.

Where

Remote. The board reviews each application.

Principles

What the programme holds to

01

Competency-based training

Trainees progress by showing they can do the work, assessed against defined competencies.

02

Driven by the hospital standard of care

Training follows the care each hospital delivers every day. Cases on the floor shape what trainees learn.

03

One continuous pathway

One route runs from foundation training through to specialty, each stage leading to the next.

04

Teaching shared between specialists

Several specialists teach each group. Instructors and directors split the load.

05

Boards and training posts established

Boards and posts are being set up so that specialists can train and qualify in India.

06

Evidence-based education

Teaching material is built from published evidence and reviewed by faculty.

07

Structured training and assessment

Structured rotations and assessment give trainees a clear route into a specialty.

08

Hospital-based

Trainees learn inside working hospitals, taught by the specialists who work there.

Tell us how you would like to be involved

Apply for membership and say which position interests you. Your specialty and credentials are all we ask for. A programme director will be in touch within two weeks; where nothing fits yet, we keep your name and write when it does.

Programme directors have joined across anaesthesia, cardiology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology, orthopaedic surgery, radiology and soft tissue surgery.
